Feel like your hair isn’t growing fast enough? Good News! You can actually speed up the process a bit, YAY! Though there is no shortcut on how to achieve the long, healthy hair you have always wanted. These 5 pro tips will get those locks long and luscious in no time.

Hydration- Lock in that moisture!
Use a deep hydrating treatment that is infused with keratin to help strengthen and hydrate your hair. I recommend doing this twice a week. My favourite is Paul Mitchell’s Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Intensive Treatment $46.95. Apply after shampooing to towel tried hair and leave on up to 15min. Your hair will feel softer and silkier than ever.

Haircuts Are Not The Enemy!
I cannot stress this enough. Whilst it is true that cutting your hair will not make it grow out of your head faster, it will in fact help those wispy strands to grow longer in no time at all. How? You may ask… By visiting your hairdresser on a regular basis for a “trim,” will prevent split ends from forming which will decrease the amount your hair snaps and breaks. This, in turn, will have you seeing your hair grow long and luscious in no time. You see, It doesn’t matter how quickly our hair grows from our roots if all it is doing is snapping off at the ends. At Kelly Elle Salon our stylists like to do 6-weekly trims for our guests trying to grow out their hair. Each time, we only take off a quarter of the regrowth amount. This ensures that we are not taking off more than what has grown for that month and your hair will grow out thicker and more evenly, resulting in the beautiful long healthy strands you’ve been craving.

Go Easy On The Heat.
When straightening and styling our hair the most common place for us to focus on is the front. Understandably, this is because it’s the easiest part for us to reach and the first thing everyone sees. But… and there is a but. The most common concern I hear from guests is that the front of their hair will not grow. This is the part that makes our hair look so much shorter than it actually is. More often, I see women come in with that “V” shape at the back of their hair due to breakage around the front and the sides. Bottom-line, you need to go easy on your heat tools especially around the front. If you are trying to grow these pieces’ down, try using hair clips or doing a braid to keep the sides back without having to touch them with heat. And when you need to use heat, be sure to apply a heat protector product to the hair. My favourite is Hot off the Press by Paul Mitchell. Minimising the amount heat you apply to your hair will make it “grow” a long way!

Follow a Healthy Diet.
We can do everything in our power to grow our hair by using the right treatments and not over styling it. Trimming our hair regularly will help however, if our diet is lacking then it will show through our hair. It is important to get plenty of iron, vitamin E and fish oils. These are essential for healthy lustrous hair. Also, drinking organic teas and taking hair supplements are also an effective step towards healthy hair growth. At Kelly Elle Salon we are in love with Trico Labs Detox and Regenerate Tea Blends. They are packed full of natural organic ingredients to help promote hair growth and hair health.
